Gifts and Donations

The Zadoc Long Free library accepts gifts of books and other library materials, as well as monetary donations or bequests for the purchase of collection materials, furnishings, or programming that is consistent with the mission and policies of the library. Funds may be given as an outright gift, in memory of, or in honor of individuals. Memorial books are designated by a memorial bookplate, unless otherwise requested. Gifts of furnishings or equipment may be identified with a small plaque.

Memorial Gifts received by the library that are not restricted by the donor for a specific purpose may be designated for a specific fund or purpose by the Library Board.

Memorial Gifts added to the library's collection may be withdrawn in the same manner as purchased materials.

All donations become the sole property of the library. The library is not obligated to keep donated materials for any length of time.

The Zadoc Long Free Library is not allowed to provide an appraisal of the value of donated books and other materials, however, we are happy to provide an acknowledgement of receipt of the materials.

Donating Used Books

The library always welcomes the donation of gently used books, audio books, and dvd's. We are unable to accept Reader's Digest Condensed, encyclopedias, computer manuals, textbooks, or books that may contain mold. Any books that we may not use on the shelf will be put in our annual used book sale.

Monetary Donations

The library welcomes monetary donations in the form of cash or checks and can be dropped off at the library, or checks can be mailed to: Zadoc Long Free Library, PO Box 158, Buckfield, ME 04220.

Thank you!

Wish List Tulip Drive

Drop by the library to pick a paper tulip. Each tulip has an item listed on it that if donated would help the library stretch its budget. Items range from post-its to craft supplies to a locking cabinet so we can safely store cleaning supplies.

March Children's ADOPT-A-BOOK PROGRAM

During the month of March, we will have a display of children's books by Maine authors or illustrators available for adoption. Prices vary and are noted for each book. Please drop by and take a look.

Zadoc Long Free Library ADOPT-A-BOOK PROGRAM

The Zadoc Long Free Library Adopt-A-Book program is a wonderful way to honor or remember someone special by giving the gift of reading! Remembrance of a friend, loved one, or special occasions are perfect reasons for adopting a book. With your Adopt-A-Book donation of $15.00 for a youth (children's, juvenile, or young adult) book, or $20.00 for an adult fiction book, or $30 for an adult non-fiction book, the library will purchase a book for the collection and include a book plate, indicating both the name of the donor and the honoree. You can even designate what kind of book you would like to donate! For example, if you would like to make a memorial to a family member who loved mysteries or marine science, the library will purchase a mystery or marine science book. If you want to honor the birth of a child, we will buy a children's book. We would be happy to give you a price quote if you would like a specific title purchased for the library with your donation.
